Bio

Sam Hickson (b. Chester, UK, 1985) studied Media Theory at London College of Communication followed by Fine Art Skills and Practice at Central Saint Martins. Most recently he is studying Print at Wimbledon School of Art. His work is fuelled by the confrontation between the “Self” and “Other”. Suggesting a multitude of complex perceptual realities clashing. A pushing and pulling between; the rational and the ephemeral, systemising the romantic as therapy for the creator, observing from critical distance one’s self. His work is focused in its investigation but practically moves back and forth between print and video.
Sam has previously contributed to workshops in Calcutta India with Transit Artist Collective (2009) and more recently created print workshops at the Bluecoat for Liverpool’s disabled community groups.
