Jonathan Meades - Further Abroad


staged essays, rehearsed artifices. They are biased and indifferent to 'balance'. By television’s standards they are visually elaborate and verbally complex. But they’re also comic entertainments, both witty and knockabout - they do not confuse seriousness with solemnity.
